The area

Cliffside House is set in about one acre that includes a woodland area that has a variety of wildlife and plants and some limestone fossils. Crich 'Stand' on the cliff top above   is a short walk away.  The Stand is the memorial to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, now merged with the Mercian Regiment: It is a viewpoint and from the top panoramic views can be seen.

Eating out.
Pub food can be found an easy walk away at the Cliff Inn,  or the tea rooms a little further on.  In the village of Crich half a mile away there is fish and chip shop,  a small supermarket, chemist,  post office, bakery with tea room.   In the surrounding villages many of the pubs will serve real ale and food.  Further afield a selection of good quality restaurants  will probably require advance booking.
